My Mardi Gras Themed Makeup!

So today I did a Mardi Gras themed look for /r/MakEnts. I was pretty happy with how it turned out and just wanted to share it!

Green Smokey Eye with Winged Liner Tutorial

Hello beautiful people! It's tutorial time. I started out today with a glittery green smokey eye and *never* got out of my pajamas. This is how I live. Anyway, let's get down to business...

The look we are creating is this:

STEP ONE: Do I even need to tell you? Clean, moisturised skin!

STEP TWO: Buff in your foundation. (I'm trying something different today  - I will be adding the product list at the end of the tutorial. Let me know what you think about that.)

STEP THREE: Apply a thin layer of cream shadow up to the crease in the colour you want your look to be. I went for green today. You could also prime here!

STEP FOUR: Pat a glittey shadow onto the cream shadow base. The brightly coloured base really gives his look dimension. I love it! So much fall out though. Shit.

STEP FIVE: Blend a darker shadow in a similar tone into the crease and above. I added more shadow after this picturre but forgot another one. But hopefully you get the gist.

STEP SIX: Take your cream base and blended in into your bottom lash line.

STEP SEVEN: Blend the glitter shade all the way along the bottom lash line over the base. Take the darker shade and blend that into the outer 1/3 of the lash line.

STEP EIGHT: Clean up all that nasty fall out and conceal under your eyes. This is also a good time to clean up around the edges of the shadow,

STEP NINE: Line your upper lash line with a liquid liner. Create a wing that follows your eyeshadow. Line your lower and upper waterline with black eyeliner. I also highlighted my brow bone here.

STEP TEN: Pencil in those brows! And add some mascara. Your eyes are done!

STEP ELEVEN: Contour, highlight, and add some lip gloss! Don't go too crazy - the eyes are your main focus. I moved into the natural light by the window for this picture.

THE FINISHED LOOK! Do you like it? I felt very pretty.

The "Liebster Award"

Hey lovelies! Today I had the wonderful surprise of being nominated for a "Liebster Award" by Jen from Blush and Fuss! I love fellow Redditor Bloggers so I was really excited when I found out someone actually knew my blog existed. Haha!

I actually don't think I know 11 beauty bloggers with less than 200 followers but I will do my best! That said,  here are the question's Jen is having me answer.

1) When did you first start wearing makeup?

I've been wearing makeup as long as I can remember! I grew up as a dancer which meant big crazy stage makeup. I was 13 though when I started wearing makeup out of the house and 17 when I got really into it.

2) How did you choose your blog name?

I chose Cat Lady Cosmetics because I'm pretty known for my crazy cat love. I love these things so much I started a subreddit called Cats & Cosmetics with some of my closest friends. <3

3) Any pets?
If you didn't guess cats, ... I don't know. You might be clueless. I have two cats named Phileas Fogg and Amelia Earhart. They are adorable.

4) What is your favorite product?
Ever? Of all time?! I don't think I have just one. I guess Kryolan Aquacolor in Black because I buy it all the time. I just prefer it over any other kind of liner.

5) What is your skincare routine?
Right now it's all Lush! I work for them so that makes sense. At night I use Ultrabland Facial Cleanser, Eau Roma Toner Water, and Celestial Facial Moisturizer. In the morning I use Let the Good Times Roll Facial Cleanser (3 times a week), Eau Roma Toner Water, Enchanted Eye Cream, and Gorgeous Facial Moisturizer. Before Lush, I used all Dermalogica.

6) What would you buy with $500 just for makeup?
First I would buy me some foundation. A fancy one for myself and some for my kit - ideally Tarte Amazonian Clay. I would make a couple 15 pan MAC palettes - one for brights and one for neutrals. And I don't know. I actively avoid looking at things I can't afford.

7) What are your other hobbies aside from makeup?
Baking, Cooking, Reading, Dancing, Redditing, Playing Gears of War with my boyfriend.

8) Favorite kind of candy?
Pretty much any sour candies - especially the little pop bottles!

9) What style of makeup do you feel most confident in?
A neutral, shimmery eye and bright lip.

10) Where is your dream honeymoon?

 I've honestly never thought about it. I'm not very good at girly stuff like that.

11) What goal would you like to have accomplished by the end of the year?
For this blog? I'd like to be more active on it and I would love to get the word out about it more! For life in general? I like to keep those things to myself.

Clown #2

KELSEY I AM THE WORST! I promised you I'd have this up for you in a week like a month ago.

This is the second of my easy clown makeups for my moms dancers. Kelsey is the girl who asked me to design them.

Here is clown makeup number two.

 1. Start with a naked face!

 2.Put on a white or super pale foundation! Clowns are white. RIGHT?

 3. Put a weird black stripe on your face. This will be a contour.

 4. Blend it out a bit. Not too much. You don't want it to look pretty and natural because you're a creepy clown from far away.

 5. See? From the front it isn't so bad. My round little face doesn't ever really up close but from far away it will.

 6. Put purple eyeshadow up to your crease. (My mom has one!)

 7. Put black in the crease and way up above, almost to your brows. Blend it out. Also put it in your inner eye.

 8. Put some of the purple under eyes. It's supposed to look gross and tired.

 9. And some black eyeshadow under the purple!

 10. Line your upperlash line and both waterlines with a black pencil. Also put mascara on. I didn't. Derp.

 11. Draw an eyebrow shape on with your black pencil.  It would look more evil with a sharper shape.

 12. Fill those sexy beasts in.

 13. Raise your brows as high as you can and draw in black emotion lines. I don't really know how to explain this but my mom can show you! Also fill your lips in black. Make a frowny face and draw lines following that as well. Really, DO NOT WORRY about this looking pretty and clean. You're on a stage. No one is this close to your face.

Sultry Valentine's Day Tutorial!

Hello again! This morning I was hanging around the house and I decided it was close enough to Valentine's Day to do a tutorial of a potential look! I'm thinking about wearing this on my date with Matt before he goes out of town!

 Start with a clean, moisturised face! This is my "just woke up" face. I'm even wearing pajamas.

 Foundation time! I've used L'Oreal True Match in N1. I like it but it oxidises a lot which sucks.

 Cover your whole lid  lashes to brow bone with a shimmery white cream shadow. This is Maybelline's Colour Tattoo in Too Cool.

 Pat a pale shimmery pink on your inner 1/3 of your lashes up to the crease. I've used my Lorac Pro palette and the color is Nude. You see that vein? IT IS THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE. It shows through everything except the thickest concealer. Then it looks like a harsh unblended shadow line and I try to blend it out. EVERY. TIME.

Pat a darker color in the same family in the middle 1/3 of your lid.  I used a cool bronze - YDK from Urban Decay's Naked 2 palette.

 Take a deep, purpley brown like Naked 2's Busted and place it in the outer 1/3 of your eye and into and above the crease. Sometimes the white balance on my phone gets off. This picture is an excellent example of that.

 Blending time. The most important time! Check out that fall out. It's one of the reasons UD sometimes aggravates me. But I still love it.

 This is what it should look like now.

 I decided to make it a bit more dramatic by adding some black into the very outer corner and slightly into the crease. I had the Naked 2 palette out so I used Blackout.

 Line your water line, upper and lower, with a true black pencil. I used Kat Von D's Waterproof Autograph Pencil in Puro Armor.  *Not pictured- me stabbing myself in the eye. Hard!

 Blend that harsh line out with some of the dark brown eye shadow we used earlier! Mine was Busted - what did you use?

 Blend it out even further using the shade you used on the middle of your lid (YDK).

 Time to clean up the fall out and conceal under your eyes! My eyes are not concealable but I try using Benefit Boi-ing in 01.

 Line your top lash line using the same black pencil! It's all coming together!

 At this point fill in your eyebrows, contour, add some blush. I used all shades from a palette I got in school for this part and it's unbranded!  I did however, highlight my brow bone using Naked 2's Bootycall!

 Add some falsies, mascara (Lancome Hypnose Mascara for me!), and sweet pink gloss like NYX Butter Gloss in Strawberry Parfait.

 And you are done! Don't be like me and do this look before you shower. You will end up heart broken you need to clean yourself!

Halo Makeup ft theBalm's nude'tude and a dramatic lip! Tutorial time.

Hey guys! This year at Christmas time I participated in an exchange on Reddit. My gifter was super generous and one of the things she sent me was a Nude'tude palette by theBalm. I feel like I've already mentioned that but it bears repeating. She was amazing. And I LOVE this palette. It's definitely one of my Top 2 palettes I own. Here is a semi dramatic (mostly the lips) tutorial using it! They eye shadow technique I'm going to use today is called "Halo" which is where there is a darker colour on the outer AND inner corners of the eye. I kept these colours fairly subtle as I was just going to a staff meeting. Remember, I'm using the nude'tude palette but you can use any shadows you want!

1. As usual, start with a clean and moisturized face! I also put a lip balm on here because my lips are super peely right now. I used Lush products for these steps. Ultrabland Cleaser, Eau Roma Water Toner, Celestial Moisturizer, Enchanted Eye Cream, and Honey Trap Lip Balm.

 2. Foundation time! Buff that stuff all over your face. An even skin tone is important for looks like this! My foundation in L'Oreal True Match in N1 Soft Ivory.

3. Now you can contour! Everyone loves to have a lovely contoured face. I shaded the hollows under my cheek bones, under my chin, around my forehead, and the sides of my nose. I highlighted my cupids bow, the top of my cheekbones, the centre of my forehead, chin, and down my nose. I decided to go subtle which was good because we ended up giving facials to each other at the staff meeting.

4. Fill in your brows. I used NYX's Eyebrow Cake Powder in Brunette. If you have Brunette hair, I do not recommend this product. It's definitely pretty read! Then prime your eyes! I used Lorac Behind The Scenes primer.

5. Blend a matte neutral colour (Sultry) into and above your crease. As usual, I've gone way up with my crease colour because of the massive space between my lids and brows.

6. Pat the colour Seductive on the inner and outer 1/3 of your eye and into the crease. Make sure you leave the middle blank!

7. And blend my friends! Blend, blend, blend!! Please ignore the veins on my super pale see through eye lids. 

8. You know that spot we left blank? Pat Stand Offish onto the spot and blend it in.

9. Line your top lash line using a shimmery brown pencil. I used Clinique's Cream Shaper for Eyes in Chocolate Lustre.

10. Line your inner waterline with a black pencil like the Kat Von D Waterproof Autograph Pencil in Puro Armor. Buff it out with the Seductive Shadow. Add some mascara! I used one by Lumene. I got it in a package from a Finnish friend!

11. Line and fill in your lips using a deep lip liner. I used Ben Nye's Vino! Stop here  if you want a lovely matte lip! Voila!

 12. Or add a clear gloss to it for a shiny pretty look! HERE ARE A TON OF PICS OF THE FINISHED LOOK.

 Yep, see those peely lips. Aren't they beautiful? I meant to sugar scrub them at work then reapply and take more pictures. The facial thing kinda ruined that plan!
